Regulator notifications

Record what you reported to your regulator, and when.

Regulators expect certain events — for example deaths, serious injuries and allegations of abuse — to be notified without delay. The categories shown match your regulator (CQC, Ofsted, CIW, the Care Inspectorate or RQIA).

  1. Go to Regulator notifications and click + New notification — or, from an incident, click Notify regulator and the details are filled in for you.
  2. Choose what is being notified, when it happened and when you found out.
  3. Once you've sent it (through your regulator's own portal or form), record the date, how it was sent and the reference number.
If a notification hasn't been sent within 1 day of finding out, it's flagged as overdue and included in the weekly email. You can change this in Settings. Always check your regulator's current guidance on what must be notified.
